Matyi doesn't go, he stays

The departure of migratory birds always illuminates us, humans, that autumn is coming. It is only natural that storks leave their nests at the end of August, just like in Hungary.

Matyi, this is not so evident to the white stork. For he has been staying with us for many years. Asiatomalom is home to the storm who saves himself from the thousands of kilometers of road and takes the risk of the Hungarian winter.

The weather is getting cooler and, as a result, the food supply is dropping. This is also making life difficult for wildlife animals. Storks do not accidentally move to a warmer climate. There, they also visit areas that are more nutritious. This is the reward of their long journey.

Matyi takes the risk for the ninth time. Among the population of Asotthalom, a whole team was organized to feed and help Matyi.

A local family began feeding the stork in winter. They thought it would only be a one-off, but Matyi has been enjoying the care now since 2011. Since then, more people are involved in feeding the white stork, and even the local mayor's office is trying to support the stork. Because Matyi is good to eat. Because you can hardly find food in nature, you replace it with chicken meat.
