The aquarium can be a highlight and attraction of the home, but this only works if the water is clean and the people who live there are clearly having a good time.

Where there is water, sooner or later there will be algae. As an aquarist, the point is precisely to keep the water as clean as possible for as long as possible. How is this achieved?

Algae growth is caused by direct sunlight hitting the aquarium, long-burning lamps, overfeeding, inadequate water exchange and nutrient-rich water.

In order for our fish to be able to swim in clean water for as long as possible, it is necessary that the aquarium is in the right place from the start. The ideal place is where the pool receives sunlight, but not directly. That is, if it does, it only partially touches the water. If we illuminate the fish habitat with artificial light, we must ensure that the lamp does not burn for more than 8 hours.

If algae appears on the glass or other aquarium equipment, remove them. Different ornaments, tools, and plants can be freed from algae by washing them, and you can also scrape them off the glass.

Apply partial water changes regularly. In other words, it is worth changing 10-15% of the water once a week.

Some types of fish can help with this. Food for algae-eating species may be what we want to get rid of.
