How to take care of your guinea pig!

Guinea pigs are truly social creatures. They have a hard time being alone. If you don't get him a companion, you'll be the one who has to entertain him.

If you see that your guinea pig is frustrated and upset, then think about what you have done for him!

Company

Guinea pigs are sociable animals and thrive in the company of other guinea pigs. If possible, consider getting another guinea pig as a companion. If that's not possible, then you also keep him company. Spend as much time as possible with him, caress and talk to him so that he feels your attention and love.

Adequately sized and furnished cage

Guinea pigs need a spacious cage in which they can move comfortably. Make sure there is enough space for him and give him different levels, hiding places, play elements and a wheel to spin around.

Adequate food and fresh water

Make sure your guinea pig always has fresh water and adequate food. Guinea pigs have a wide variety of suitable foods, which include fresh vegetables, fruits, carbohydrates, and guinea pig food with limited carbohydrates. It is important to prepare a varied and balanced diet.

Playing, occupation

Guinea pigs are active animals, they love to explore and play. Allow him time outside the cage when he is free to explore safe and well-supervised areas. Offer him toys such as chews, balls, and puzzle games that stimulate his mind and provide exercise.

Calm environment

Guinea pigs are sensitive to noise and disturbing environments. Try to provide him with a place where he is quiet and calm, preferably away from sources of noise and bright lights.
