In Australia, killing cats is a huge problem because hobby killers are usually well-kept, out-of-home cats who hunt native animals.
Elsewhere, due to unwanted reproduction, the increased number of stray cats is a problem. In Sweden, this is why the law comes into force that cat owners have a duty to do everything they can to bring about unwanted breeding.
The biggest problem in Sweden is that too many kittens get on the streets, enriching the number of orphaned animals, but just like in Australia, hunting protected species is a problem here as well.
From 15 June, a neutering obligation will come into force for cat keepers who are not involved in breeding the breed.
