The mishmi takin stock of the Nyíregyháza Zoo can feel quite good in its place, because it grows every year. Two calves were also born in January and March last year.

The special-shaped ungulates originally live in northern Myanmar, southeastern Tibet, the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, and Yunnan province. The multi-subspecies takin is characterized by a curved nose in addition to their large heads. The thick-furred takin can withstand the cold well, and males and females also wear horns. Herbivorous animals in herds. Due to the loss of their natural habitat and nose hunting, zoo reproduction is very important, and the Nyíregyháza institution is very good at this.

A male first came to the Nyíregyháza Zoo in 2009, and in 2014 he received a female companion. Thanks to their love, the stock is thriving.

A little takin was born again, which is even better news that this specimen is female. Last year, males were born. A calf is expected to be born again soon after the youngest takin, because another female is pregnant.
