The western lowland gorilla represents this species, so the birth of any new individual is a great pleasure. This is also why they rejoiced so much that a baby of this species was born at the New Orleans Zoo. However, their joy did not last long.

The female animal was 13 years old and everything seemed to go perfectly smoothly around childbirth, however, at the age of six, she died unexpectedly. The cause of death is still unknown, they are trying to find out. What is certain is that the mother did not produce enough milk, but it is not yet known exactly what happened. One thing is for sure, after the joy you have to mourn.
