Do you like beer? Now, for six days in one place, on Szabadság Square in Budapest, you can taste the country's best craft brews and international specialties at the 6th Downtown Beer Festival, the main sponsor of which is SPAR Hungary.
The Downtown Beer Festival is a great opportunity to draw the attention of discerning beer consumers to craft products and special items from excellent domestic small-scale breweries. For many years, SPAR has been committed to bringing the quality craft products of small domestic businesses closer to consumers, and to making available the uniquely flavored, special products of breweries on the shelves of the supermarket chain, offering a quality alternative to quantity consumption.
Handcrafted items are becoming more and more popular
From 2022, the department store chain will be the main sponsor of one of Hungary's biggest beer festivals, which will be held this year between August 30 and September 4 at Szabadság Square in Budapest. At the SPAR Sörös stand, everyone can find a beer that suits their taste, whether it is a large-scale, or a unique series, small-scale product: the best Hungarian beers available in the stores of the supermarket chain are presented here.
Thanks to small-scale breweries and international trends, top-fermented craft beers, fragrant IPAs, midnight stouts, or fruity batches made mainly from wheat beer are becoming more and more popular. The role of the SPAR network is significant in the rise of these styles. Five years ago, small-brewery beers only accounted for 6.5 percent of their permanent and seasonal supply, but today this proportion has increased sixfold. SPAR accounts for 12.4 percent of Hungarian store beer sales.
Community experience
As in previous years, the festival welcomes its guests this year with more than 250 types of beer, craft specialties from the best domestic breweries, international items, beer premieres, and quality street food. At SPAR, beer is not just a product group, as the company strives to always offer its customers an exciting experience waiting to be discovered.
The festival also creates a social experience, where visitors can choose from a huge range of draft or bottled items that best suit their taste in a pleasant environment, in a good atmosphere.
The official beer: Festival Hippie
The official beer of the 6th Downtown Beer Festival will also be presented at the event. FESTIVAL Hippie, an unfiltered, straw-yellow top-fermented beer specialty with a light body from wheat malt, was created by brewing masters based on thousands of online votes. The flavors of the American El Dorado and the Australian Ella hops are completed by a real experimental delicacy, the HBC586 hop, and the triple trio spins this true festival beer to perfection with its tropical fruit, mango-pineapple aroma.
