Is it okay if the dog gives you a kiss?

It is said that a small child should eat a kilo of dirt by the time he is one year old. Well, if a dog lives next to a person, this can certainly happen sooner. However, with proper cleaning, germs can be kept under control.

We still don't like it (at least not everyone) when the dog licks. Not even if the animal is considered a family member. The bacteria in a dog's saliva are different from humans. Since the diet of dogs is also different from that of humans, it is clear that their digestion is as well.

The owner who is not wary of his dog's licks, and who even really likes dog kisses, can say that a dog's mouth is cleaner than a human's.

How true is all this?

It is certain that there are at least as many bacteria in the mouths of dogs as in humans, but the composition shows a big difference. Their saliva may contain bacteria and viruses that are dangerous to humans, but there is little chance of catching it. However, it may happen that it enters the human body through a wound or through the mucous membranes of the nose and mouth and causes illness.

In other words, it can generally be said that dog saliva does not cause any particular problems, perhaps if there is some kind of damage to the skin and the infection enters through it.
