That wet nose is so much more

Fate is meant to play a role in our nose, but it is an even more important “tool” for dogs. If you thought you were only using it for smelling, then you were wrong.

A hairless and healthy wet nose is famously a good sense organ for dogs. However, puppies ’noses are much more than a means of smelling. However, this was recently discovered by Hungarian researchers. During their research, the experts of the Department of Ethology of Eötvös Lóránd University discovered that the dog can also detect infrared radiation with its nose.

The excellent sense of smell is a combination of infrared radiation detection that helps dogs a lot during hunting.

Not only in dogs, but in general in most mammal species, it is characteristic of them that they have a nose that is unfiltered, different in color, and even differs in texture. However, while most sensory organs require an adequate blood supply, dogs ’noses are cold and constantly moist. Researchers have also realized that snakes are able to detect objects and creatures far away from them, which makes them excellent hunters even at night, as most of their prey is an active animal at night.

Research has shown that there is an area of the brain in dogs that senses the temperature of objects and activates accordingly. So our dogs ’noses pick up infrared radiation and they can even determine its direction.
