Our instinctive fear of snakes prompts us to flee near reptiles. However, a man and his dog are specifically looking for the company of snakes.
The man, who works as a biologist and his specially trained non-sheepdog, scans the area of the Kiskunság National Park to find a crayfish viper. This species is one of the most endangered.
Snakes don’t look for trouble, they don’t like to show off. You can track them down with the help of a random and good-smelling dog. The biologist also has another dog with a very good smell, but that ebet could not be trained to signal only the vipers. Tomi, the viper-seeking dog, is the one who specializes in the crayfish viper.
99% of the crayfish viper habitat has disappeared. What is left is in Kiskunság. They are looking for this still-existing, tiny stock. Conservationists and biologists soon realized that something had to be done for crab vipers. And if vipers are protected, they can also provide protection for other living things.
Tomi, the viper-seeking dog, was originally trained to search for explosives, but when they were looking for a dog to search for vipers, Tomi’s abilities were also taken into account. Even later, his talent entered the already narrowed field and showed more and more.
